Aktivist*in und Journalist*in Zain Salam Assaad (they/them) ist in Syrien geboren und aufgewachsen und lebt seit Mitte 2016 in Deutschland. Er*sie studierte Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaft an der Universität Leipzig. Zain schreibt, übersetzt, organisiert und protestiert. In der Freizeit holt sich Zain Udon Nudeln mit veganer Ente und beschwert sich über das Wetter in Deutschland, toxische Netzkulturen und empathiefreie Debatten. Für das Balance Festival kuratiert er*sie gemeinsam mit Sarah Ulrich das Diskursprogramm.

Activist and journalist Zain Salam Assaad (they/them) was born and raised in Syria and has been in Germany since mid-2016. They did their degree in communication and media studies at the university of leipzig. Zain writes, translates, organizes and protests. In their spare time, Zain grabs Udon noodles with mock duck and complains about the weather in Germany, toxic internet cultures, and the lack of empathy in public debates. For Balance Festival, they curate the discourse program alongside with Sarah Ulrich.
