Loraine James ist nicht nur das Sweetheart der Londoner Elektronik Undergroundszene und Kritiker*innen-Liebling (sie wurde u.a. als “eine der kreativsten Musikerinnen des 21. Jahrhunderts” bezeichnet), sondern auch als Liveact extrem einnehmend. Sie kreiert einen atmosphärischen und anspruchsvollen Sound, der das Publikum erst zum Tanzen einlädt und an anderer Stellen einfach überwältigt zurücklässt. Als junge, Schwarze und queere Frau sind ihre experimentellen Elektrosounds immer auch politisch, wie die tagebuchartigen Bekenntnisse auf ihrer dritten Veröffentlichung “Reflection” (via Hyperdub, 2021) klar machen. Loraine James ist eine überzeugte Teamplayerin und kooperiert als Produzentin unentwegt – Balance Act 2019 TVSI, Rapper Le3 bLACK oder Tirzah sind nur eine kleines Spotlight auf eine beeindruckende Liste.

Driving and glitchy electronics, influenced by UK drill and grime, R’n’B, jazz and spoken word. Loraine James is not only the sweetheart of London’s electronic underground scene and a critics‘ darling (she has been called „one of the most creative musicians of the 21st century“, among other things), but also an extremely engaging live act. She creates an atmospheric and demanding sound that invites the audience to dance. As a young, Black and queer woman, her experimental electro sounds are always political, which was made clear in the diary-like confessions from her third release „Reflection“ (via Hyperdub, 2021). Loraine James is a convinced team player, who incessantly collaborates as a producer – Balance act from 2019 TVSI, rapper Le3 bLACK or Tirzah are just a small spotlight on an impressive list of her collaborators.
